1. Mixing too fast
Fast stirring whips in air. Stir slowly for three minutes and scrape the cup walls.
2. Wrong mix ratio
Eyeballing 2:1 kits leaves sticky resin. Measure by volume with marked cups.
3. Pouring too thick
Table top epoxy is for thin coats. Anything deeper needs a deep pour formula.
4. Skipping the seal coat on wood
Raw wood releases air and creates bubbles. Seal it thin first.
5. Working in a cold room
Below 65F the resin thickens and may not cure. Keep the room 70–75F.
6. Not levelling the surface
Resin pools where the surface tilts. Check with a level before pouring.
7. Touching it too soon
Fingerprints and dust stay forever. Wait until the surface is hard.
8. Using the wrong pigment
Water-based paint and food colouring can stop the cure. Use resin pigments.
9. No heat gun pass
Bubbles left on the surface become permanent. One slow pass fixes it.
10. Demoulding soft casts
Deep pours need 48 to 72 hours. Demoulding early warps the piece.
